Schools in Bahrain: the expat parent's guide.

Bahrain has around 50 private schools across British, American and IB curricula - with fees meaningfully below what the same education costs in the rest of the GCC. Here is how parents actually shortlist.

The shortlist

The schools parents ask me about first.

These are the established names. Every school here is real, open, and linked to its official site - always visit before you decide, and ask about waitlists early.

Everything else

~50 private schools in total

French, Indian (CBSE), Pakistani, and faith-based options all exist across the island - new schools open regularly. If your system isn't listed here, message me and I'll tell you what families in your community actually use.

The method

Three decisions, in order.

01

Curriculum first

Match the system your child came from, or the universities they're heading to. British, American and IB all lead to top universities - switching systems mid-way is the thing to avoid.

02

Area second

Bahrain is small, but the school run still shapes your day. Saar, Janabiya and Hamala sit near the main school cluster - it's why families concentrate there.

03

Visit third

Book tours before you land if you can. Ask about waitlists, sibling policies, and assessment dates - the popular year groups fill first.

Where the families are

Live where the school run is short.

The family suburbs - Saar, Janabiya, Hamala - put you minutes from the school cluster with villa space and quieter streets. Read the Hamalah area guide, or see real rents by area in the Life Guide.

Moving with kids? Send me their ages and current curriculum - I'll match areas to schools in one message.
