Residence permit + CPR card
Your employer (or your golden residency) drives the residence permit; the CPR card follows. It's your ID for banking, healthcare, leases and government services - nothing meaningful happens without it.
Everything in Bahrain hangs off one card - your CPR. Get the sequence right and setup is days, not weeks. Here is the order that works.

Three operators: Batelco, stc and Zain. Grab a prepaid SIM on arrival with your passport, then move to a contract once your CPR is issued. Internet here is genuinely fast - Bahrain runs some of the region's best connectivity.
Rent is paid monthly - not a year upfront like much of the GCC. Once you sign, register electricity and water with EWA (the Electricity and Water Authority) under your CPR. Real rents by area are in the Life Guide.
Confirm your insurance network, register with a hospital, finish the school paperwork. Guides for both: Healthcare in Bahrain · Schools in Bahrain.
No traffic, everyone speaks English, and the island crosses in under 40 minutes. Most people are functionally settled within their first month - the 90-day plan on the Life Guide keeps it honest.
