Bahrain Property Law · Ownership

Can foreigners buy property in Bahrain?

Yes - foreigners of every nationality can own property outright in Bahrain: 100% freehold with full inheritance rights, in nine designated zones covering roughly 30,500 parcels. No local partner, no leasehold workaround, no special permission per purchase.

The nine zones are Al Fateh, Amwaj Islands, Diyar Al Muharraq, Sea Front, Durrat Al Bahrain, Seef, Dilmunia, Juffair and Sayh - between them covering most of the areas international buyers actually want: the islands, the towers, the new cities.

Ownership is registered in your own name at the Survey and Land Registration Bureau, transfers cost a one-time 1.7% fee, and property worth BHD 130,000 or more qualifies you for Bahrain's renewable 10-year golden residency.
