Bahrain Property Law · Tenancy

How many months' rent can a landlord demand upfront in Bahrain?

At most three months in advance for residential premises, plus a security deposit capped at one month's rent. A landlord asking for six or twelve months upfront is asking for more than the leasing framework permits.

Large upfront demands are common across the region, which is exactly why Bahrain's cap is worth knowing. Four months' total cash exposure - three advance plus one deposit - is the legal ceiling at move-in.

If a landlord insists on more, that is a negotiating red flag as much as a legal one.
