Bahrain Property Law · Tenancy

Can I be evicted for late rent in Bahrain?

Only after two consecutive months of unpaid rent - and even then, the Rent Disputes Committee can refuse the eviction if it finds a good reason for the tenant's non-payment. One late payment is not a legal ground for eviction.

The two-month threshold is deliberate: the law separates a tenant in genuine temporary difficulty from one who has stopped paying. A single missed month, or persistent lateness that is always caught up, does not meet the bar.

That said, arrears remain a debt. The protection is against losing your home over a short-term stumble, not against owing the rent.
