Bahrain Property Law · Fees & Taxes

How long do I have to register a property purchase in Bahrain?

60 days from notarisation to keep the transfer fee at 1.7%. Register later and the fee rises to 2% of the purchase price - a straightforward late penalty worth avoiding.

The registration itself is what makes you the legal owner of record at the Survey and Land Registration Bureau, so it is not a step anyone should be slow about anyway.

On larger purchases the 0.3% difference is material: BD 600 on a BD 200,000 villa.
