Bahrain Property Law · Off-Plan & RERA

Do real estate brokers need a licence in Bahrain?

Yes - brokers, sales agents and developers must all hold a RERA licence. Brokerage licences require deep sector experience and Bahraini citizenship; individual sales agents within a licensed brokerage may be non-Bahraini but must hold their own valid RERA sales agent licence.

For buyers and sellers the practical takeaway is simple: ask for the RERA licence number of both the brokerage and the individual agent, and verify at rera.gov.bh before signing anything or handing over a deposit.

Licensees are also bound to RERA's continuing professional development programme, so a current licence signals someone who is keeping up with the rules - including the ones on this page.
