Bahrain Property Law · Off-Plan & RERA

Can a foreigner work as a real estate agent in Bahrain?

Yes - individual sales agents working within a licensed brokerage may be non-Bahraini, but they must hold their own valid RERA sales agent licence and participate in RERA's continuing professional development programme. Brokerage licences themselves require Bahraini citizenship.

The two-tier structure keeps ownership of brokerages Bahraini while opening the sales profession to the international talent an expat-heavy market naturally needs.

For clients, the check is the same regardless of the agent's nationality: a valid, current RERA sales agent licence, verifiable at rera.gov.bh.
